DELICACY. NOT!
One thing that I think is kinda dopey is when people misuse the word delicacy.
For instance a couple conversations I've been involved in, went to the topic of chocolate covered grasshoppers and bugs. There's always someone who says, "Oh yeah, that's a delicacy." NO IT'S NOT! Delicacy means:fineness of texture, quality, etc.; softness AND something delightful or pleasing, esp. a choice food considered with regard to its rarity, costliness, or the like: Caviar is a great delicacy. Grasshoppers, crickets, ants, etc; are a dime a dozen OR FREE. They are NOT delicate OR fine. They are NOT quality and rare. They are gross. Caviar is a delicacy. It's not easy to get and it's costly and fine. So is fois gras. Another few times I'd be in conversations where people talk about how dog and cat are eaten in China or the Phillipines. Well I can vouch for that, I've seen them hanging in their meat markets next to the goats and sheep. And again NOT A DELICACY FOLKS! Dog and cat are easy to come by and are eaten by poor folk who can not afford anything else. Nothing fine here. No rarity involved here either. CATS and DOGS ARE NOT A DELICACY! Unless you're a dumb ass fool, these animals should not be exploited as food or for their fur. (Remember the Burlington Coat Factory fiasco?) They are our friends. Now repeat after meCats and Dogs are our friends and I will not wear or eat a cat or dog under any circumstances.

When conversations attribute chocolate covered ants, grasshoppers, etc. as delicacies, perhaps it's time to switch the conversation topic?
